It’s a rainy day in Toronto today, so I thought Burzum would be appropriate. I then started thinking of Varg and how frankly, crazy he is, then I giggle to myself and think Oh you…

Rapping Up MDF 2012

I’ve posted all my pictures here and I figure I should sum the experience up before getting on with my usual content on this blog.

I’m not being dramatic when I say it was a life changing experience. Not only was it an adventure of a lifetime that I got to share with my bestfriend/boyfriend Jon, but it was hugely inspirational both visually, as an artist and a fan of fashion, as well as, reminded me of who I am.

It reminded me of how much music means to me, and strongly confirmed how it will always be a big part of my life. Also, there is something to be said about how I feel among metalheads; it is the feeling of being home. Even though, I do not consider myself to be a metalhead, there is a darkness and a strength to metalheads that I also posses. The metal scene culture is very familiar to me, and it is embedded in my soul. It is weather I like it or not apart of me, and I should explore this.

On a more personal note, it’s been a funny few years in my life since high school ended. I went through a bit of an identity crisis where I uprooted everything I knew and questioned every aspect of who I was. This is another piece that just fell into place and it’s very satisfying.

Sweet album art I saw while going through merch.

I got to meet Don Anderson of Agalloch!

Last night was a crazy first night of Maryland Deathfest. A few bands that played where Dying Fetus, Eyehategod, Agalloch, and Autopsy.

Jon and I met a local promoter and bouncer who we chilled with till the end of the night. The promoter was able to get us free double Jagerbombs that lasted us for the rest of the night (Jon and I arn’t heavy drinkers).

The crowd for Eyehategod turned into one big mosh pit, girls included. I haven’t been in a mosh pit since I saw Ensiferum at a local venue where there were 10 people. It was sweet, but we have bruises to show for it. It was also fortunate that we had our bouncer friend watching our backs.

Agalloch was next and they were truly amazing. They played songs only from their first two albums, which are Pale Folklore and The Mantle, and made the crowd very happy. It was blissful, as it always is seeing them play live.

After Agalloch Jon and I caught Don Anderson, the guitarist of Agalloch (who I must say makes the live show as energetic as it is) walking by. Jon waved at him and he walked over. We chatted for a bit and he headed off to find food. Very down to earth kind of guy.

Very awesome night. How will the other nights live up to this?

We have arrived in Baltimore!

Some how on less than 2 hours of sleep Jon was able to make it less than 10 hours! We got here early, with a few quick stops along the way.

We have now unpacked in our sweet hotel room. It’s an eco friendly hotel! Very cool. Now time for a nap!

Healthy snacks for the ride down, and alcohols. I got The Three Olives cake flavour, which tastes amazing (unlike so many flavoured vodkas), and Grey Goose.
